Port information & tips for Sibenik

Sibenik is a radiant jewel on the Croatian Adriatic coast and captivates with its thousand-year history as well as its picturesque location at the protected mouth of the Krka River. The city welcomes visitors with a labyrinth of charming stone alleys, historic palaces, and a Mediterranean flair that feels both authentic and inviting. The glitzy highlights include the famous Cathedral of St. James, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the imposing St. Michael's Fortress, which offers a breathtaking view over the archipelago. Cruise ships dock directly at the modern Pier Gat Vrulje, from which travelers can easily reach the historic old town and its cultural treasures in just about ten minutes on foot thanks to its central location.

Sibenik, located on Croatia's picturesque Adriatic coast, is a charming destination for cruises and is easy to reach thanks to good regional connections. The port is located close to the city center, which makes orientation and onward travel easier.

Car

The Croatian A1 motorway offers excellent connections to Sibenik, especially from the direction of Split in the south or Zadar and Zagreb in the north. From the motorway exit, well-signposted roads lead you directly into the city center and to the port. Public parking is available near the port, allowing for both short-term and long-term parking. It is recommended to check specific parking providers and their conditions in advance to find the best option for the duration of your cruise.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Split (SPU), located about 50 to 60 kilometers south of Sibenik. There are direct flights to Split from many airports in the DACH region, especially during the season. The journey from Split Airport to the port of Sibenik takes about 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis, shuttle services, and local bus connections are available for the transfer. Alternatively, Zadar Airport (ZAD) is an option, located about 70 kilometers to the north and also offering good flight connections.

Train

Sibenik has its own train station, which provides a connection to the Croatian railway network. Train connections from the DACH region usually require several changes, for example in Zagreb or Split. From Sibenik train station, the port is easy to reach due to its central location. A short taxi ride or a pleasant walk of about 10-15 minutes will bring you directly to the embarkation area. For international guests who prefer a relaxed journey, the train is a nature-oriented, albeit more time-consuming, alternative.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
