The Port of Makarska is picturesquely situated on the Dalmatian coast and is easily accessible thanks to its excellent connection to the Croatian motorway network and its proximity to the Split transport hub. The berths for cruise ships are located directly on the lively Obala kralja Tomislava harbor promenade, providing travelers with immediate access to the historic old town.

Airplane

Split Airport (SPU) is the primary arrival point for guests from the DACH region and is located approximately 75 kilometers northwest of Makarska. From there, you can reach the port comfortably in about 60 to 90 minutes by private transfer, taxi, or the regular public buses that offer a direct connection from the airport to the central bus station in Makarska.

Car

Via the Croatian A1 motorway, travelers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland can quickly head south, ideally using the Zagvozd exit. The route leads through the Sveti Ilija Tunnel directly to the Riviera, where various public parking lots as well as secured private parking spaces are available near the harbor for the duration of the cruise.

The historic old town and the lively Kačić Square are in direct proximity to the pier and can be reached within 2 to 5 minutes. A stroll along the Riva promenade also offers a wonderful view of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding cafes.

Taxi

Official taxi stands are located in the immediate vicinity of the ferry terminal as well as at the central bus station. Drivers will take you quickly to the higher viewpoints of the Biokovo Mountains or to the picturesque neighboring villages along the Makarska Riviera.

Tourist Train (Bibi Train)

The small, popular tourist train runs regularly along the coast and connects the port with the extensive pebble beaches of Donja Luka Bay. This ride offers a pleasant way to explore the coastline in a relaxed manner while enjoying the fresh sea breeze.

The extensive city beach Donja Luka is easily accessible from the port in about a fifteen-minute walk along the picturesque waterfront promenade and offers crystal-clear water as well as the natural shade of fragrant pine trees. Thanks to the excellent infrastructure with comfortable beach bars, sun lounger rentals, and well-maintained pathways, you can enjoy a completely relaxed day by the Adriatic Sea. It is best to use the early morning hours for a refreshing swim when the water is particularly calm, and plan your return walk to the ship about sixty minutes before departure to enjoy a leisurely espresso in the old town.

Central taxi ranks are located at the main bus station and at the ferry terminal in the immediate vicinity of the cruise ship pier. Additionally, taxis can be easily requested through the receptions of the larger hotels on Donja Luka beach, bringing you back to the harbor basin quickly and punctually.

Tourist Train and Public Transport

The popular tourist train Vlakić regularly connects the northern beach sections with the city center and drops you off within easy walking distance of the ship berths. Furthermore, the central bus station is only a short walk from the pier and serves as a reliable contact point for returning from the surrounding area.
