Port information & tips for Traben-Trarbach

Traben-Trarbach on the Middle Moselle is an architectural jewel and is considered one of the most significant historic centers of the wine trade. Set within a picturesque river loop, the twin town impresses with its sophisticated flair and magnificent Art Nouveau villas, which are harmoniously embedded into the steep vineyard landscape. Highlights include the iconic Brückentor, the historic Grevenburg ruins with their panoramic view, and the fascinating "Traben-Trarbach Underworld" with its extensive historic wine cellars. River cruise ships dock at the central pier on the banks of the Moselle in the Traben district. Thanks to this first-class location, guests can easily reach the lively town center, the picturesque alleys, and all major attractions within a few minutes' walk directly via the well-maintained riverside promenade.

Traben-Trarbach on the Moselle is an idyllic starting point for river cruises and, thanks to its picturesque location, is easily accessible via various transport routes. The berths for river cruise ships are centrally located along the riverside promenade.

Car

Traben-Trarbach is well connected via the B53, which runs through the Moselle Valley. From the direction of Koblenz, you can reach the B53 via the A48, and from the direction of Trier via the A1 and A60. In Traben-Trarbach itself, there are public parking options along the Moselle promenade as well as other parking lots in the town area suitable for short- and long-term parking. While there are no specific "Park & Cruise" providers in the traditional sense, the inner-city options offer a convenient solution.

Train

Traben-Trarbach station is the terminus of the Moselwein-Bahn, connecting the town with Bullay, an important junction on the Moselle line. From Bullay, there are direct regional train connections to Koblenz and Trier, from where ICE and IC connections to the entire DACH region are available. From Traben-Trarbach station, you can reach the ship berths in just a few minutes' walk along the Moselle.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN), located approximately 20 kilometers away. From there, bus connections to Traben-Trarbach are available, or you can use a taxi or rental car for the short journey of around 20-30 minutes. Alternatively, the larger airports of Luxembourg (LUX), about 80 kilometers away, or Frankfurt am Main (FRA), about 120 kilometers away, offer good train or rental car connections. Due to the short distances, arrival on the day of embarkation is usually possible without any problems.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
