Rathenow, idyllically situated on the Havel, is a charming destination for river cruises and is easily accessible from the DACH region thanks to its good transport links. The docking points for ships are located close to the center along the Havel and are well signposted.

Car

Rathenow is directly connected to the regional road network via federal highways such as the B102 and B188. An important connection to the A2 motorway exists via Brandenburg an der Havel. In Rathenow itself, you will find parking facilities near the docking points, such as at the Alter Hafen, which allow for convenient access to your ship.

Train

Rathenow station is a regional hub with regular connections to cities including Berlin, Stendal, and Magdeburg. From there, you can easily reach the docking points at the harbor by bus (lines such as 676, 680, or the RB51 train line), or you can take a taxi for a short ride to the ship. The station also offers P+R facilities.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Berlin Brandenburg (BER), located approximately 83 kilometers away. From there, a comfortable train connection to Rathenow station takes about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, the transfer by car is possible in around 1 hour and 15 minutes. When arriving by plane, a relaxed pre-cruise overnight stay in Berlin or directly in Rathenow is recommended to begin your river cruise well-rested.

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. The city center and the extensive Optikpark are located in the immediate vicinity and can be easily reached within 5 to 10 minutes. The path leads along the Havelpromenade and also allows for a relaxed stroll with views of the river landscape.

Havelbus

The city bus lines provided by Havelbus connect the port with the surrounding districts and ensure flexible mobility thanks to regular service intervals. The stops near the port also provide a direct connection to Rathenow station for excursions into the region.

Taxi

Taxis can be conveniently ordered directly to the port area and are also available for travelers at the nearby train station. The short distances within the city allow for a quick and comfortable ride to all desired destinations in the Havelland.

Optikpark Rathenow

The Optikpark Rathenow is easily accessible from the central pier at the Alten Hafen in about ten minutes on foot and offers a first-class combination of horticultural variety and exciting regional optical history. On the extensive grounds of the former garden show site, you can stroll relaxedly through colorful themed gardens and also enjoy the peaceful atmosphere during a silent ride on the popular electric rafts on the Havel. Thanks to the well-maintained gastronomy and the inviting relaxation zones including the impressive sightlines to the neighboring Bismarckturm, this place is perfectly suited for a relaxing stay in the "City of Optics". Ideally, visit the park in the morning to admire the light installations and the floral splendor in peace, and plan your leisurely walk back to the ship about sixty minutes before departure.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the pier at Alter Hafen or Schleusenplatz is extremely relaxed and safe thanks to the short distances within the City of Optics.

On Foot

From the extensive Optikpark or the historic St.-Marien-Andreas-Kirche, you can walk comfortably in just a few minutes directly back to the port area. Thanks to the central location, the paths are well-signposted and lead you safely along the idyllic Havel promenade to your ship.

Taxi

Central taxi stands are located at Märkischer Platz as well as at Rathenow station and will bring you back to the pier within a very short time. Additionally, staff in the surrounding hotels and cafes are happy to order a vehicle for you so that you reach your berth punctually and comfortably.

Public Transport

Regional bus lines stop at important points such as the Rathaus or Märkischer Platz and offer a reliable connection near the waterfront areas. Thanks to the clear layout of the network, you will easily find the right way and reach your berth on the water after a short walk from the stop.
