Port information & tips for Cochem

Cochem is the charming pearl of the Moselle and one of the most picturesque destinations for river cruises in Germany. The town impresses with its romantic location amidst steep vineyards and offers a medieval backdrop with winding alleys and lovingly restored half-timbered houses. Highlights include the towering Reichsburg Cochem, the historic marketplace with its baroque town hall, and the Cochemer Sesselbahn, which provides a breathtaking view over the Moselle Valley. River cruise ships dock directly at the central berths on the Moselle promenade, making the town center and the pedestrian zone easily accessible in just a few steps thanks to the prime location.

Cochem is a picturesque starting point for river cruises on the Moselle and impresses with its central location and easy accessibility from all parts of the DACH region. The piers are located directly on the well-developed Moselle promenade within walking distance of the historic city center and the railway station.

Car

Via the A48 and A61 motorways as well as the B49 federal road, you can quickly reach the heart of the Moselle Valley and the piers. For the duration of your cruise, guarded long-term parking spaces and the car park at the leisure center are available in Cochem; additionally, local partners offer comfortable park-and-cruise options including transfer to the ship.

Train

Cochem (Mosel) station is an important stop on the Moselle line and is ideally connected to the long-distance transport hubs of Koblenz and Trier thanks to regular Regional-Express connections. From the station, you can easily reach the ship moorings in about ten minutes on foot or within a few minutes by taxi.

Airplane

The best way to arrive by air is via Frankfurt Airport (FRA), which is located around 130 kilometers away and has excellent ICE connections to Koblenz. Alternatively, Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN), about 40 kilometers away, offers a very nearby option from which you can easily reach your terminal by rental car or shuttle service.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Please plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
