Port information & tips for Barth

The charming Vineta town of Barth is idyllically situated on the southern shore of the Barther Bodden chain and is a true jewel on the Pomeranian Baltic Sea coast. This historic small town impresses with its maritime atmosphere, lovingly restored half-timbered houses, and a spacious waterfront promenade that invites you to stroll. Cultural highlights include the imposing St.-Marien-Kirche with its prominent tower, the fascinating Vineta-Museum, and the historic Adlige Fräuleinstift. Cruise ships dock at the Wirtschaftshafen Barth, which, thanks to its central location, is only a few minutes' walk from the historic market square and also provides an ideal starting point for relaxed exploration tours into the heart of the old town.

The charming port of Barth, nestled in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft, is easy to reach thanks to good regional connections. As a city port, it is ideal for smaller cruise ships and yacht trips and offers a direct connection to the historic city center.

Car

Barth is conveniently connected via the B105 federal road, which leads from the direction of Rostock and Stralsund. Travelers from the south reach the region via the A20 or the A19 and A24 towards Rostock, followed by the B105. In the center of Barth and near the harbor, various public parking options are available, including illuminated parking lots at the Osthafen or guarded parking spaces at the Stadthafen for short- and long-term parkers. In addition, some local providers and yacht charter companies offer parking spaces directly on the shipyard grounds, often within short distances of the moorings.

Train

Barth station is a central hub for rail and bus transport in the region. From many German cities, you can reach Velgast with Deutsche Bahn and from there take the Usedomer Bäderbahn (UBB) directly and hourly to Barth. The harbor and city center are just a stone's throw from the station, so you can reach your ship comfortably on foot or with a short taxi ride.

Airplane

The nearest commercial airport is Rostock-Laage (RLG), around 58 kilometers from Barth. From there, the port can be reached in about an hour by taxi or rental car. Although Barth also has the Ostseeflughafen Stralsund-Barth, this is mainly used by general aviation and for private jets. Arriving the day before is recommended to start your cruise adventure relaxed and explore the picturesque surroundings of the Vineta city.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
