Port information & tips for Bad Wimpfen

Bad Wimpfen am Neckar is a medieval jewel and one of the most romantic stops on a river cruise through southern Germany. The historic silhouette of the former Kaiserpfalz towers majestically over the river valley, enchanting travelers with a unique atmosphere of winding alleys and magnificent half-timbered houses. Highlights include the prominent Blauer Turm, the Staufer Steinhaus, and the grand arcades of the former palace complex. Car

The journey to Bad Wimpfen is comfortable via the A6 (E50) motorways with the Bad Rappenau (No. 35) or Heilbronn/Untereisesheim (No. 36) exits. Likewise, the A81 (E41) leads directly to the vicinity of the town via the Neuenstadt (No. 8) exit. For car travelers, several parking options are available in Bad Wimpfen, including the free Seegarten bus car park in Deimlingstraße, from which you can reach the old town and the pier in about 5 minutes on foot. Another car park is the car park at the railway station, which is subject to a fee on weekdays.

Train

Bad Wimpfen station (Carl-Ulrich-Straße 1) is directly connected to the Heilbronn – Heidelberg railway line (DB line 706) as well as to the S-Bahn lines S41/S42, which offer connections from Heilbronn via Neckarsulm and Bad Friedrichshall. From the station, you can easily reach the city center and the ship's pier, about 0.8 kilometers away, by taxi.

Airplane

For international guests or longer journeys, Stuttgart Airport (STR) at a distance of about 60 to 90 kilometers and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at a distance of around 100 to 130 kilometers are the most relevant options. From both airports, there are good rental car or train connections to Bad Wimpfen. To start your river cruise in a relaxed manner, a pre-cruise overnight stay in Bad Wimpfen or the surrounding area is recommended for long-distance air travel.

Check-in & Embarkation
