Car
Andernach is excellently connected to the German highway network and can be easily reached via the A61 and A48 (with a connection to the A3). Coming from the north, the journey often leads via the B9 directly to Andernach. On site, you will find parking options along Konrad-Adenauer-Allee, near the berths on the Rhine bank and the Geysir-Zentrum. Although there are no dedicated Park & Cruise offers like for ocean cruises, public parking spaces are available for the duration of your trip, so you can start your vacation relaxed.
Train
Andernach station is an important hub for regional transport and is regularly served by lines such as the RE5 (Rhein-Ruhr-Express) and the RB26 (Mittelrheinbahn), which offer direct connections from cities like Cologne and Mainz. Individual Intercity and Intercity Express trains (e.g., ICE 10 Berlin-Koblenz) also stop in Andernach. From the barrier-free station, you can reach the Rheinuferpromenade and thus the berths of the river cruise ships in only about 10 to 15 minutes on foot. A bus station is also located directly at the train station, offering further connections within the city and region.
Airplane
For international guests or those who prefer a longer journey, Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) and Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) are ideal options. Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) is the closest major airport, with a travel time of around 1 hour 2 minutes and a distance of approximately 84 kilometers. Frankfurt Airport (FRA) offers a larger selection of direct flights and is about 1 hour 17 minutes travel time or 120 kilometers away. There are good train connections to Andernach from both airports (e.g., from FRA in approx. 1 hour 28 minutes). Alternatively, private transfer services and taxis are available, enabling a comfortable door-to-door journey.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the cruise: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
