Returning to the ship

Alken an der Mosel is a picturesque starting point for river cruises and easily accessible thanks to its central location in Germany. The ships dock directly at the pier on the Moselpromenade.

Car

The wine village of Alken is excellently connected thanks to the federal highway B49, which runs directly through the town. You can reach Alken easily via the A61 motorway (Dieblich exit) or the A48 (Ochtendung – Kobern-Gondorf exit), from where you follow the signs to the Mosel. Numerous free parking options are available along the main street, and the DORMERO Moselhotel Koblenz-Alken also offers parking spaces.

Train

The nearest major railway station is Koblenz Hauptbahnhof, a major hub with numerous ICE and IC connections from all over Germany. From there, you can take a regional train (RB/RE) to Löf station on the Mosel in about 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, buses run from Koblenz Hauptbahnhof directly to Alken, for example to the Bachstraße stop, in about 45-50 minutes travel time. From Löf station, the pier in Alken is around 3 kilometers away and can be reached by taxi in about 5 minutes or on foot in about 35 minutes.

Airplane

For international guests, Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) is the nearest major international airport with extensive connections. From there, you can reach Koblenz Hauptbahnhof in around 1 hour by train, from where you can continue to Alken by regional train or bus as described. Arriving the day before is recommended for a relaxed start to your river cruise, especially after long-haul flights.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the cruise: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always note the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
