Port information & tips for Southampton

Southampton is England's most important maritime gateway and one of the most historic cruise ports in Europe. Located on the south coast, the city delights with a mix of modern elegance, a lively harbor atmosphere, and the heritage of legendary ocean liners. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the SeaCity Museum with its famous Titanic exhibition, the historic Tudor House and Garden, and the impressive medieval city walls. Ships dock at modern berths such as the Ocean Terminal or the Horizon Cruise Terminal, which, thanks to their central location, offer excellent connections and are only about a 15-minute walk from the vibrant city center and the Westquay Shopping Centre.

Southampton is the most important cruise port in Great Britain and impresses with a first-class infrastructure featuring five specialized terminals such as the Ocean or Horizon Terminal. Due to flight times from the DACH region, we recommend arriving the day before to start your holiday relaxed and enjoy the city's maritime atmosphere in advance.

Airplane

London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is the central arrival point for guests from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, offering excellent direct connections from cities like Frankfurt, Munich, or Zurich. The onward journey to the port, which is about 100 kilometers away, is comfortable by taxi, private transfer, or cruise line shuttle in around 90 minutes, while the regional Southampton Airport (SOU) is located just 10 kilometers from the terminals.

Train

Southampton Central station is the ideal arrival point for travelers coming from central London or other British cities. From there, you can reach your respective ship in just 5 to 10 minutes by taxi; furthermore, regular direct connections from London Waterloo station ensure an uncomplicated journey in about 80 minutes.

Car

Arrival with your own vehicle is via the M3 and M27 motorways, which provide direct access to the various harbor basins and the terminals located there. Secure long-term parking from providers such as ABP Parking or Cruise & Passenger Services is available for the duration of the cruise, guaranteeing a particularly short walk to check-in thanks to their location directly on the quay.
