Fujairah is a fascinating jewel on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates and stands out as the only emirate with exclusive access to the Gulf of Oman. Cultural highlights include the historic Fujairah Fort and the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Mosque, while the Fujairah Museum offers fascinating insights into the tradition-rich history. Cruise ships dock at the modern cruise terminal in the Port of Fujairah, from where the city center, about five kilometers away, can be reached quickly and easily thanks to short transfer times by shuttle or taxi.
Fujairah, located on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, is an emerging cruise port and is easily accessible, especially for Fly & Cruise guests from the DACH region. Since most international flights land in Dubai or Sharjah, an overnight stay before embarkation is often recommended due to the longer transfer time.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Fujairah International Airport (FJR), which however offers only a few international connections. For travelers from the DACH region, Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) are the most relevant points of arrival. DXB is located about 120-135 kilometers from the Port of Fujairah, which corresponds to a driving time of around 1.5 to 2 hours. SHJ is slightly closer at about 100 kilometers with a driving time of 1.5 hours.
Transfer & Shuttle
Various transfer options are available from Dubai (DXB) and Sharjah (SHJ) airports to the Fujairah cruise port. Taxis are a convenient and direct option, easily found at both airports. Many cruise lines also offer their own shuttle services that take passengers directly from the airport to the ship. Another option is private transfer services, which can be booked online in advance and guarantee comfort and punctuality.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the longer transfer times from the international airports in Dubai or Sharjah to the Port of Fujairah, as well as the time difference on long-haul flights, it is strongly recommended to arrive at least one day before the planned embarkation. In Fujairah itself, especially along the coast and near the port, there is a selection of hotels. An overnight stay allows for a relaxed start to your cruise without the stress of direct travel after a long flight.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
