Port information & tips for Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is the glamorous capital of the United Arab Emirates and welcomes travelers with a fascinating blend of futuristic architecture and deep-rooted Arabian tradition. Its location directly on the Persian Gulf provides an exclusive flair, while the skyline and deep blue water create an impressive backdrop. Cultural highlights nearby include the spectacular Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, as well as the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the historic Qasr Al Hosn fort. Cruise ships dock at the ultra-modern Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in Port Zayed, which, thanks to its central location, is only about five kilometers from the lively Corniche and the city center, offering an ideal starting point for discovery tours.
Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi is considered one of the most modern cruise ports in the world and impresses with its central location near the famous Corniche and the cultural island of Saadiyat. Thanks to the first-class infrastructure, guests can reach the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal smoothly by air and the excellently developed road network.
Airplane
Zayed International Airport (AUH) is the most important gateway to the region and is located only 35 kilometers from the port. From the DACH region, there are daily direct connections from Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich, which enable a comfortable journey in around six hours. Alternatively, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is often used, which is about 150 kilometers away and can be reached via the E11 highway in around 90 minutes driving time.
Transfer & Taxi
From Abu Dhabi Airport, you can reach the terminal in the Mina Zayed district in about 30 minutes by taxi or private transfer. The official yellow taxis are inexpensive and use meters; in addition, modern ride-hailing services such as Uber or Careem are available. For travelers arriving via Dubai, many cruise lines offer special bus shuttles that head directly to the terminals via the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (E12).
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the flight duration and the time difference, arriving the day before is highly recommended to start the cruise in a relaxed manner. Hotels on Saadiyat Island or in the Corniche area are often only 10 to 15 minutes drive from the port and also allow for a visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the famous Sheikh Zayed Mosque before embarkation. Many luxury hotels also offer exclusive chauffeur services directly to Zayed Port.
