Returning to the ship

Kladovo, a picturesque port on the Danube in Serbia, is a popular destination for river cruises and, thanks to its location, is easily accessible by car. A dedicated cruise terminal in the Western sense typically does not exist here; ships dock directly at the Danube quay, from where the city center is within walking distance. For travelers from the DACH region, an arrival the day before is recommended for longer car journeys or flights to start the cruise in a relaxed manner.

Car

Kladovo is accessible via well-developed main roads. The most important connection is via the Serbian national road 35 (magistralni put 35), which connects Kladovo directly with larger cities like Negotin and further to the Serbian highway network (e.g., the A1 towards Niš and Belgrade). Arrival from the DACH region typically leads through Hungary or Croatia to Serbia. Parking options in Kladovo are usually found near the city center and the Danube quay, often in public parking lots. Specific Park & Cruise offers for cruise passengers are not common in this smaller port.

Train

The nearest major train station is located in Negotin, about 60 kilometers southwest of Kladovo. From there, train connections exist to other Serbian cities, including Belgrade. The connection to the European long-distance network from Negotin is limited, so a direct train journey from the DACH region without multiple transfers and long travel times is hardly practical. From Negotin station, onward travel to Kladovo by taxi or regional bus is required.

Airplane

The nearest international airport is Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG), located about 200 kilometers west of Kladovo. Belgrade is served by numerous airports in the DACH region with direct flights, including Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich. The drive from Belgrade airport to Kladovo takes around 3 to 3.5 hours by rental car or taxi. Alternatively, travelers can use a bus transfer from Belgrade to Kladovo; these run several times a day from the Belgrade bus station. Due to the distance, staying overnight in Belgrade the day before is a sensible option for a flight arrival to ensure a relaxed and punctual arrival in Kladovo.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time – depending on the cruise line and destination – is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
