Train & Ferry
Visegrad does not have its own train station; arrival by train is via the Nagymaros-Visegrád station. From Budapest-Nyugati, trains of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) run regularly to Nagymaros-Visegrád in around 39 to 45 minutes. From there, it is a short, approximately 5-minute walk to the Nagymaros ferry pier, where a ferry will take you comfortably across the Danube directly to Visegrad. On Foot
The city center and the riverside promenade can be easily reached on foot in about 5 to 10 minutes and invite you to a relaxed exploration. The path is level and also offers a wonderful view of the Danube Bend and the passing ships.
Ferry
The regularly operating passenger ferry docks in the immediate vicinity of the cruise piers and conveniently connects Visegrád with the town of Nagymaros on the opposite side of the Danube. This connection simultaneously allows for a picturesque perspective of the Citadel perched high above the city.
Taxis and Volánbusz
Taxis are available at the central squares near the port and take guests directly to the famous Upper Castle or the summer toboggan run. In addition, the yellow regional buses of the Volánbusz company depart regularly from nearby stops and offer an uncomplicated ride to the higher-situated viewpoints.

The way back to the ship pier in Visegrád is very simple and relaxed thanks to the compact layout of the town and the good accessibility of the hilltop castle.
Shuttle Bus and Local Public Transport
Small tourist shuttle buses and the city train take you directly from the high-altitude Citadel back to the ship pier on the banks of the Danube. In addition, regional buses on line 883 run regularly between the castle parking lot and the Visegrád Hajóállomás stop, providing a reliable return to the pier.
Taxi
Taxis are available for a comfortable ride to the harbor in front of the entrance to the Citadel and at the nearby Hotel Silvanus. Alternatively, the staff in the cafes at the Royal Palace will be happy to call a local vehicle for you, ensuring a punctual transfer directly to the ship.
On Foot
From the Royal Palace in town, you can walk back to the piers in just a few minutes via the main street, Fő utca. The descent from the Citadel via the well-marked hiking trail past the Salomon Tower is safe thanks to clear signage and also offers wonderful panoramic views of the Danube Bend.
