Returning to the ship

The cruise port of Marigot on Saint-Martin is primarily a port of call for smaller, luxurious expedition and boutique cruise ships. Arrival from the DACH region usually takes place by plane with stopovers, which is why a relaxed pre-arrival and overnight stay is recommended to start your cruise refreshed.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Dutch side of the island. Depending on the source, this international airport is located 4 to 10 kilometers from Marigot. There are no direct flight connections from the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to SXM; arrival typically takes place via major hubs in the USA or Europe. Therefore, plan sufficient time for connecting flights and the time zone change.

Transfer to the Port

From Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM), you can easily reach the port of Marigot by taxi or private transfer. A taxi ride takes about 15 to 20 minutes, and private transfer services offer travel times of around 11 to 34 minutes. Taxis are available directly at the airport. Local minibuses do operate on the island and connect Marigot with Philipsburg, among other places, but are less suitable for traveling from the airport with luggage. The port of Marigot itself is centrally located in the city, directly on Marigot Bay.

Pre-Cruise Hotel & Planning

Due to the long journey from the DACH region, it is strongly recommended to arrive at least one day before embarkation and spend the night in a hotel on Saint-Martin. This allows for relaxed acclimation before the start of your cruise. In Marigot and the surrounding area, you will find numerous hotels of various categories that enable a comfortable stay before your ship sets sail. Public parking is available in Marigot near the market and the marina, although an early arrival on market days is advantageous.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
