Port information & tips for Cap Cana (Punta Cana)
Cap Cana is an exclusive jewel on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, captivating visitors with its luxurious flair and a dreamlike Caribbean backdrop. The extensive resort area delights guests with crystal-clear water, finest sandy beaches, and a first-class infrastructure for discerning travelers. Top attractions in the immediate vicinity include the adventure-filled Scape Park with the famous Cenote Hoyo Azul, the picturesque Playa Juanillo, and the elegant marina itself. Since Cap Cana is a tender port, cruise passengers reach the Marina Cap Cana directly by boat. From this central arrival point, the exclusive highlights of the area as well as local amenities can be easily explored thanks to short distances and convenient shuttle connections.
The Cap Cana cruise port, nestled in the exclusive Marina Cap Cana, welcomes its guests to the Dominican Republic and is excellently accessible thanks to its proximity to Punta Cana International Airport as well as well-developed road connections. Cruise ships often tender here, while smaller luxury ships can dock directly at the modern marina.
Airplane
Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is the nearest airport and is located only about 10 to 15 kilometers or a short 10-minute drive from the port of Cap Cana. It is a major hub for international flights, including direct connections from Europe, which makes traveling from the DACH region particularly comfortable.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), you can easily reach the port of Cap Cana by private transfer. Numerous providers offer shuttle services, private SUVs, or taxis that will take you directly to your destination without detours. The journey usually takes only 15 to 25 minutes. Many resorts in the region also offer their own transfer services, enabling a relaxed onward journey to the ship.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight time from the DACH region, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise vacation and minimizes the risk of flight delays. Cap Cana and the surrounding Punta Cana region offer a variety of luxurious resorts and hotels that provide ideal overnight accommodation before your ship sets sail.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will typically receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time – depending on the cruise line and destination area – is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
