Victoria, the charming capital of British Columbia, welcomes cruise guests with a unique blend of British heritage and Pacific natural beauty. The "City of Gardens" at the southern tip of Vancouver Island impresses with its grand architecture, blooming parks, and an inviting maritime flair. Nearby highlights include the stately Parliament Buildings, the world-famous Fairmont Empress Hotel at the Inner Harbour, and the colorful, floating village of Fisherman’s Wharf. Ships dock at the modern Ogden Point Cruise Terminal, which is picturesquely situated on the coast. From there, a short walk or a convenient shuttle bus ride leads directly into the vibrant city center, making it easy to explore the most important sights.
The Victoria cruise port is located at the Ogden Point Terminal and, thanks to its position at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, is excellently connected both by air and by water. The terminal is situated only about 2.5 kilometers from the historic city center and welcomes guests with a modern infrastructure and direct access to the region's most important transport routes.
Airplane
Victoria International Airport (YYJ) is located about 27 kilometers north of the port and is usually served from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland via hubs such as Vancouver (YVR) or Calgary (YYC). From the airport, you can easily reach the cruise terminal by taxi or shuttle service in about 30 to 40 minutes via Highway 17. Additionally, car rental stations at the airport offer full flexibility for travelers who wish to explore the surroundings of Vancouver Island before their cruise.
Ferry & Transfer
For many travelers from the DACH region, the adventure begins with the crossing from the mainland, with BC Ferries from the Tsawwassen terminal near Vancouver to Swartz Bay being the most popular connection. The journey through the picturesque island world takes about 90 minutes and is complemented by the BC Ferries Connector, which takes passengers directly from the ferry terminal to the center of Victoria. Alternatively, you can easily reach the port from the direction of Seattle with the Victoria Clipper high-speed ferry, which docks directly in the nearby Inner Harbour.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey and the time difference, an overnight stay before embarkation in one of the hotels in the Inner Harbour is highly recommended. Many accommodations are located in the immediate vicinity of the Parliament Buildings and allow for a relaxed start to your vacation, as the Ogden Point Terminal can be reached from there in just a few minutes by taxi or with a short walk along the waterfront promenade. Additionally, some hotels offer special packages for cruise guests that include a transfer to the ship.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
