Port information & tips for Gaspé

Gaspé is the maritime gateway to the breathtaking Gaspésie Peninsula and impresses with its historical significance as the "Cradle of Canada." Its idyllic location between rugged mountains and the deep blue Gulf of St. Lawrence gives the town an incomparable natural beauty and a welcoming, maritime flair. Outstanding highlights include the historical open-air museum Berceau du Canada as well as the majestic Parc national de Forillon with its spectacular cliffs and iconic lighthouse. Cruise ships dock at the Quai de Sandy Beach, from which the city center is easily accessible in about ten minutes thanks to provided shuttles, allowing guests to effortlessly explore the charming downtown area and the informative Musée de la Gaspésie.

Gaspé, located on the picturesque Gaspésie Peninsula in Québec, welcomes cruise guests in an impressive natural setting. Since many ships anchor in the bay, passengers are comfortably brought to the marina by tender boats, from where the city center is within walking distance. Alternatively, ships dock at the Sandy Beach Wharf, which is connected to the city center via a shuttle service.

Airplane

Arrival from the DACH region typically takes place via Fly & Cruise, with Michel-Pouliot Gaspé Airport (YGP) being the nearest airport. It is located only about 6.5 kilometers west of Gaspé and is a small regional airport with national connections, for example to Québec City (YQB). International guests usually fly into larger Canadian hubs such as Montréal (YUL) or Québec City (YQB) and require a connecting flight from there. The trip from Gaspé Airport (YGP) to the city center or the port takes around 15 minutes by taxi.

Rental Car & Arrival by Car

The Gaspésie Peninsula is optimally accessible via the coastal road Route 132, which offers a scenic drive around the peninsula. From Montréal, you can reach Gaspé in about six hours (approx. 570 km); from Québec City, it is around 3.5 hours (approx. 350 km) to the "gateway" of the region. Rental cars are available in Gaspé, mainly at the airport; early booking at least two weeks in advance is recommended due to limited availability. Rental cars can also be delivered to the cruise terminal upon request. Parking for shuttles and taxis is available directly at the port's Welcome Pavilion.

Pre-Cruise Hotel & Transfers

Due to long international flight routes and the need for connecting flights, it is recommended to arrive in Gaspé at least one day before embarkation. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise. Numerous hotels in and around Gaspé offer comfortable accommodation. Taxis are available directly in front of the Welcome Pavilion at the port and will take you comfortably from your hotel to the terminal. Various shuttle services can also be used for transfers between the airport, hotel, and port.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
