It is best to visit the museum right at opening in the morning to enjoy the special atmosphere of the galleries in peace and return to the ship in the early afternoon, relaxed for lunch on board or in the city.
The journey back to the Port of Dundee is straightforward thanks to the proximity of the berths to the city, allowing for very precise timing.
Shuttle Buses
Most cruise lines offer a complimentary shuttle service that brings you comfortably from the city center near the V&A Museum of Design or Slessor Square directly back to the ship. These buses run at regular intervals and drop you off right at the secure terminal area.
Taxi
Central taxi ranks can be found directly at Dundee railway station, as well as in front of the Overgate Shopping Centre and the Apex City Quay Hotel. The drive to the port takes only a few minutes and, due to the good accessibility of the port area, is a very reliable option for a punctual return.
On Foot
From the city center and the lively waterfront, a level path leads along Dock Street directly towards the port facilities. The route is well-signposted, and you will reach the guarded entrance to the cruise terminal after a short walk past the City Quay harbor basin.
