Sark is a true jewel of the Channel Islands and impresses as a slow-paced natural paradise that is entirely car-free. The island enchants visitors with its untouched cliffs, blooming landscapes, and an almost magical tranquility that, thanks to its original atmosphere, immediately transports you to another time. Highlights include the magnificent gardens of La Seigneurie, the spectacular ridge La Coupée with breathtaking views, and the charming main street "The Avenue". Since Sark does not have a deep-water port, guests arrive at Maseline Harbour by tender boat. From there, a short path leads up to the village center, where the famous tractor bus "Toast Rack" makes the ascent comfortable and at the same time an unforgettable experience.

Sark (Guernsey) is a unique and largely car-free Channel Island that is not directly visited by large cruise ships. Arrival for cruise guests usually takes place via the neighboring island of Guernsey, from where smaller ferries run to Maseline Harbour on Sark. Often, passengers are also brought ashore by tender boat from cruise ships anchored off Sark.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Guernsey Airport (GCI), which is served by various British airports such as London Gatwick, Southampton, or Manchester. From Germany, connecting flights are often required, for example via London. From Guernsey Airport, you can easily reach the ferry port of St. Peter Port, which is about 22 kilometers away, by taxi or bus. The journey time from the airport to the ferry terminal in St. Peter Port is approximately 15-20 minutes by taxi.
Ferry
The main way to reach Sark is by ferry from Guernsey. The Isle of Sark Shipping Company operates a regular passenger and freight service between St. Peter Port on Guernsey and Maseline Harbour on Sark. The crossing takes about 45 to 55 minutes and is offered several times a day in high season, with a reduced schedule in winter. It is advisable to book ferry tickets in advance, especially in the summer months. Alternatively, there are seasonal ferry connections from Jersey to Sark, operated by Manche Iles Express. Please note that no car ferries run to Sark, as the island is car-free.
Pre-Cruise Hotel (on Guernsey)
Given the ferry connection and the car-free character of Sark, an overnight stay on Guernsey is recommended before embarkation or a day trip to Sark. In the main town of St. Peter Port, you will find numerous hotels near the ferry port. Some hotels, such as the Best Western Moores Hotel, are only a 10-minute walk from the Condor Ferries Terminal in St. Peter Port. For arrival at the ferry terminal in St. Peter Port by car, there are short- and long-term parking spaces within walking distance of the port, with the largest parking facilities located in the North Beach area. Parking on Guernsey is mostly free of charge, but a parking disc is required in "Disc Zones".
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for arrival at the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
