Herm in the Channel Islands is an idyllic destination that is only accessible by boat. Cruise ships typically visit the island as a tender port, with guests being brought ashore by smaller boats. Travel from the DACH region is primarily via the neighboring island of Guernsey, from where regular ferry connections are available.
Airplane
The nearest airport for travel to Herm is Guernsey Airport (GCI) on the island of Guernsey. This airport is served by various British airports, including London Gatwick, Manchester, and Southampton. From the DACH region, a transfer in Great Britain is usually required. Guernsey Airport is located approximately 6 kilometers southwest of St Peter Port, the main town and ferry port of Guernsey. A taxi takes about 15-20 minutes from the airport to the ferry terminal in St Peter Port.
Transfer from Guernsey to Herm
After arriving at Guernsey Airport, you can reach the port of St Peter Port by taxi or local bus. From there, the so-called "Herm Trident Ferries" run regularly to Herm Harbour. The crossing takes about 20 minutes and offers scenic views of the coastal landscape. There are no cars on Herm; the island is car-free, so you can easily explore the island on foot.

Due to the required flight connections and the ferry crossing to Herm, it is recommended to schedule your arrival in Guernsey one day before your planned excursion or embarkation.
