Braye on Alderney, a charming island in the Channel Islands, is primarily accessible by plane and ferry. Since cruise ships usually anchor offshore, embarkation typically takes place via tender boat to Braye Harbour, the central arrival point on the island.
Airplane
Alderney Airport (ACI) is the nearest airport and is served from Guernsey (GCI) and Southampton (SOU). For travelers from the DACH region, a flight via one of these hubs is recommended. There are good connections from major German, Austrian, and Swiss airports to Southampton or Guernsey, followed by a short onward journey to Alderney. Alderney Airport is located just a few minutes' drive from Braye Harbour.
Ferry
Braye Harbour is Alderney's only ferry port and offers regular connections to the neighboring islands of Guernsey and Jersey, as well as to Dielette in France. The shipping companies Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, Manche Iles Express, and Alderney Shipping serve these routes. For guests who prefer a combination of a flight and a short ferry crossing, traveling to Guernsey or Jersey by plane followed by a ferry transfer to Alderney is an attractive option.
Pre-arrival and Hotel
Due to the island's location and the required connecting flights, arriving in Alderney or on one of the larger Channel Islands (Guernsey, Jersey) the day before is recommended. This allows you to start your cruise experience relaxed and ensures you have enough time for the final transfers to Braye Harbour.
