Constanța is Romania's history-steeped gateway to the Black Sea and impresses as one of the oldest cities in the country. Thanks to the central location, travelers can easily reach the heart of the city and the picturesque waterfront promenade on foot in about ten to fifteen minutes.
Constanța, Romania's largest port city on the Black Sea, offers a blend of historical flair and modern facilities. The port features a dedicated passenger terminal at the passenger pier, which is located about 1.5 kilometers from the city center and is therefore easily accessible.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport (CND), located approximately 23 kilometers north of the city center. Transfer time by taxi to the port is around 25 to 30 minutes, costing about 19 to 23 US dollars. There are also hourly bus connections linking the airport with Constanța railway station. For guests from the DACH region, direct flights to CND are available, for example from Istanbul, with flight times from German cities like Frankfurt, Munich, or Berlin ranging between 1 hour 40 minutes and 2 hours 10 minutes. Alternatively, travel can be via the larger Bucharest International Airport (OTP), from where onward travel to Constanța is possible by train or rental car. Due to the longer journey, an overnight stay on the day before embarkation is recommended for a relaxed start.
Train
Constanța railway station (Gara Constanța) is an important transport hub for the city. There are daily direct connections with the Intercity express train from Bucharest, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. From the station, you can easily reach the cruise terminal by taxi or local bus lines, which provide good connections to the city and the port.
Car
Constanța is directly connected to the Romanian capital Bucharest thanks to the well-developed A2 motorway (Autostrada Soarelui). The drive on this highway takes you quickly towards the Black Sea coast. Parking is available at the port itself; for long-term parking, it is recommended to contact local providers or the cruise line directly, as special "Park & Cruise" offers, such as those in larger Western European ports, are not extensively documented for Constanța.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation.
