The nearest relevant train station is Călărași. From there, the onward journey to the port of Chiciu, which is about 7 kilometers from the center of Călărași, is best made by local taxi. For travelers from the DACH region, the journey to Călărași is usually organized via a major hub such as Bucharest (Gara de Nord). There are train connections from Bucharest to Călărași, though travel times may vary depending on the connection.
Airplane
The nearest international airport for Chiciu is Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) in Bucharest, also known as Otopeni. This airport is located approximately 120-130 kilometers northwest of Chiciu. The travel time from OTP airport to Chiciu or Călărași is about two to two and a half hours by rental car or taxi, depending on traffic volume. It is advisable to book a private transfer in advance to ensure a relaxed arrival. Due to the distance and potential flight times, arriving the day before embarkation and staying overnight in a hotel in Bucharest or Călărași is recommended.
