Port information & tips for Nynashamn (Stockholm)
Nynäshamn is the picturesque gateway to the Swedish archipelago and serves as a charming starting point for discoveries in the Stockholm region. The coastal town impresses with its maritime flair, idyllic location on the Baltic Sea, and typically Swedish serenity. In the immediate vicinity, the historic fishing harbor with its traditional smokehouses and the scenic coastal road Strandvägen invite exploration, while the Railway Museum offers fascinating insights into regional history. Cruise ships dock at the innovative, extendable Seawalk pier, which allows for convenient shore excursions. Thanks to excellent connections, travelers can reach the center of Stockholm, around 60 kilometers away, in about an hour by the comfortable Pendeltåg commuter train or via directly provided shuttle buses.
The port of Nynäshamn, located south of Stockholm, serves as an important port of call for Baltic Sea cruises and is easily accessible thanks to modern infrastructure and a unique Seawalk system. Large cruise ships can dock comfortably here, allowing passengers to go directly ashore to explore the region or the Swedish capital.
Car
Via the well-developed Route 73 (Nynäsvägen), you can reach Nynäshamn directly from Stockholm and other regions of Sweden. The route from Stockholm is around 60 kilometers long and is partially developed as a highway. Short-term and long-term parking spaces are available near the port, making a convenient arrival with your own vehicle easily possible. It is recommended to check the availability of parking spaces online in advance, especially during the high season.
Train
Nynäshamn station is centrally located and excellently connected to the Swedish rail network. With the Pendeltåg line (commuter train), you can easily reach Stockholm Central Station in about one hour and six minutes, with regular connections every half hour. A shuttle bus also runs from the cruise terminal to the station, making the transfer comfortable for arriving passengers. Alternatively, the station can be reached in about 10 to 20 minutes on foot from the cruise pier.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Stockholm Arlanda (ARN), located approximately 100 kilometers north of Nynäshamn. The travel time from the airport to the cruise port is about 1 hour and 13 minutes by car or private transfer. Numerous taxi and private transfer services are available, enabling a direct and relaxed onward journey to the ship. Due to the longer journey from the DACH region, it is advisable to allow plenty of time for transfers.
Check-in & Embarkation
