Coming from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the journey to Nynäshamn usually follows the motorways towards Stockholm. Nynäshamn is well-connected to the Swedish road network and is located about 60 kilometers south of the capital. At the Nynäshamn ferry terminal, short-term and long-term parking options are available to securely park your vehicle during the crossing.
Train
The nearest train station for ferry connections to Gotska Sandön is Nynäshamn Station. From Stockholm Central, Pendeltåg (commuter trains) on line 35 run regularly directly to Nynäshamn, with a journey time of around one hour. From Nynäshamn station, the ferry terminal is easily accessible on foot or with a short taxi transfer.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Stockholm Arlanda (ARN), which is connected to numerous cities in the DACH region by direct flights. From Arlanda Airport, you can reach Stockholm Central Station via the Arlanda Express or Flygbuss in about 20 to 45 minutes. From there, take the Pendeltåg line 35 directly to Nynäshamn. Due to the travel time to the ferry port, it is ideal to plan an arrival the day before to ensure a relaxed journey to the ferry.
