Cruise ships mostly dock at the modern Arendal Cruise Terminal or the more central America Cruise Terminal. Thanks to efficient shuttle connections, guests reach the vibrant center in about 20 minutes while simultaneously enjoying the approach through the impressive archipelago landscape.
Göteborg is easily accessible thanks to its location on the Swedish west coast and first-class transport connections from the DACH region. Large ocean giants usually dock at the modern Arendal Cruise Terminal, around 15 kilometers west of the center, while smaller ships use the central America Cruise Terminal directly in the city center.
Car
Via the E6 European routes from the direction of Malmö and Copenhagen, as well as the E20 and E45, you can easily reach the port area directly. At the Arendal Cruise Terminal, which is located directly next to the famous Volvo Museum, secure long-term parking is available; in addition, Park & Cruise providers in the surrounding area offer secure vehicle storage including a shuttle to the ship.
Airplane
Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) is located around 25 kilometers from the port and is served directly from many German metropolises as well as Vienna and Zurich. Onward travel to the terminal is comfortable by taxi in about 30 minutes or thanks to the regular Flygbussarna airport buses, which reach the city center in about 20 minutes and offer connections to the cruise lines' shuttle services there.
Ferry & Train
A particularly relaxed arrival from Germany is offered by the Stena Line ferry from Kiel, which takes guests directly to Göteborg overnight and lets the vacation begin right on the water. In addition, the main station Göteborg Centralstation is a central hub for long-distance trains from Copenhagen and Stockholm, from which you can reach the terminals quickly by taxi or with the public bus lines 32 and 148.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
