Vaasa is considered the sunniest city in Finland and enchants visitors as the maritime gateway to the fascinating Kvarken Archipelago on the Finnish west coast. The city impresses with its elegant Nordic atmosphere and offers first-class cultural and scenic experiences thanks to its immediate proximity to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Kvarken Archipelago, as well as the historic ruins of Old Vaasa and the modern Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art. Cruise ships dock at the Vaskiluoto Cruise Quay, located on the island of the same name. The city center, about two kilometers away with its lively marketplace, is easily accessible thanks to efficient shuttle connections or a relaxed walk across the connecting bridge, allowing guests to enjoy both the untouched nature and the urban Finnish lifestyle at the same time.
The port of Vaasa in Finland, located on the island of Vaskiluoto, is easy to reach thanks to good local connections. The cruise terminal is situated only about 2.5 kilometers west of the city center and is well signposted.
Car
Vaasa is well connected via the Finnish road network, particularly via National Road 3 (E12), which also leads to the airport and thus enables a direct connection into the city. As specific Park & Cruise offers directly at the port are not explicitly designated, it is recommended to use parking facilities in the city center of Vaasa and take a taxi or the local Wasabus (Line 13) from there to the terminal in Vaskiluoto. Train
The main station of Vaasa is centrally located in the city and is an important hub for Finnish rail traffic. From there, you can easily reach the cruise terminal. Tickets for the local bus connection can often be purchased directly via the VR Matkalla app (Finnish railways) together with the train tickets, which further simplifies the arrival. A taxi ride represents another fast and comfortable option.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Vaasa Airport (VAA), which is located only about 9 kilometers southeast of the city. Finnair and Scandinavian Airlines offer scheduled flights to Vaasa Airport. From the airport, there are good transfer options to the city center and the port: for example, buses from Vekka Liikenne Oy run hourly in approximately 28 minutes to Raastuvankatu / Rewell in the center, from where you can continue to the terminal. A taxi ride from the airport to the port takes only a few minutes. Due to the international arrival from the DACH region, an overnight stay in a city hotel in Vaasa on the day before embarkation is recommended to start your cruise in a relaxed manner.
Check-in & Embarkation
