Tallinn is the jewel of the Baltic Sea and the fascinating capital of Estonia. The Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its historic Town Hall Square, the impressive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and the striking defensive towers, offers visitors an unforgettable journey through time. Cruise ships dock at the modern Old City Harbour (Vanasadam) at the award-winning Tallinn Cruise Terminal. From here, the historic center is easily reached in about ten to fifteen minutes on foot, allowing travelers to immediately immerse themselves in Estonian culture and vibrant city life thanks to the short distances and excellent connections.
The Port of Tallinn impresses with its immediate proximity to the historic city center and its modern infrastructure, featuring the award-winning Cruise Terminal. Thanks to the compact size of the Estonian capital, the distances between the airport, train station, and the cruise pier are pleasantly short and convenient.
Airplane
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport (TLL) is located only about five kilometers from the port and is served by direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich. From there, you can easily reach the terminals in the Old City Harbour via bus line 2 or in about 15 minutes by taxi and ride-sharing services like Bolt.
Auto
The port area, located directly in Tallinn's city center, is accessible via the well-developed E67 (Via Baltica) and E20 highways. For cruise guests, a modern parking garage with over 380 spaces is available at Terminal D, and spacious outdoor parking lots are located at the Cruise Terminal on Logi Street, providing secure vehicle storage thanks to video surveillance and a central location.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Since the modern cruise terminal directly borders the picturesque Old Town, arriving a day early and staying overnight in one of the historic boutique hotels is recommended. This offers the perfect opportunity to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Tallinn at your leisure and reach the harbor comfortably the next morning on foot or after a short taxi ride from the Baltic Station (Balti Jaam).
Check-in & Einschiffung
Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the cruise: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
