Port information & tips for Skagen

Skagen marks the picturesque northern tip of Denmark and welcomes travelers with its world-famous light and an incomparable artistic atmosphere. The region captivates with the spectacular confluence of the Skagerrak and Kattegat at the Grenen headland and offers a postcard-perfect idyll thanks to the charming yellow houses with their white roof edges. Cultural highlights include the renowned Skagens Museum and the impressive Sand-Buried Church, which bears striking witness to the power of shifting nature. Cruise ships dock at the modern Krydstogtkajen at Piers 9 or 10, from where the lively city center is reachable in about twenty minutes on foot or conveniently via free shuttle buses. This ideal location allows visitors to experience the maritime flair and Danish way of life to the fullest immediately upon arrival.

Skagen marks the northernmost point of Denmark and welcomes cruise guests at the modernized berths Pier 9 and Pier 10. The port is located in direct proximity to the charming city center and is easily accessible for travelers from the DACH region thanks to Jutland's well-developed infrastructure.

Car

Arrival by car is via the German A7 motorway, which transitions seamlessly into the Danish E45 at the border and leads travelers directly to Frederikshavn. From there, Route 40 leads through the dune landscape to Skagen, where guarded long-term parking is available directly at the cruise terminal as well as in the harbor area.

Train

Skagen station is connected to the Danish long-distance rail network via regional train connections from Frederikshavn and Aalborg and is therefore easily accessible from the direction of Hamburg. From the centrally located station, you can easily reach the terminal in about five minutes by taxi or use the approximately two-kilometer-long, level footpath for a first look at the city's famous yellow houses.

Airplane

Aalborg International Airport (AAL) is located around 100 kilometers south of Skagen and is served by various European hubs. Further travel to the port is very pleasant thanks to private transfer services or rental cars in about 80 minutes; additionally, there is a regular train connection from the nearby Lindholm station directly to the center of Skagen.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
