Port information & tips for Rønne (Bornholm)

Rønne is the charming gateway to the Danish sunshine island of Bornholm and welcomes visitors with an inviting blend of Scandinavian serenity and maritime heritage. The island's capital impresses with its picturesque location directly on the Baltic Sea coast, as well as an idyllic flair of winding cobblestone streets and colorful half-timbered houses. In addition, cultural highlights such as the striking St. Nicolai Church, the historic city and garden museum Erichsens Gård, and the traditional ceramics manufactory Hjorths Fabrik delight visitors directly in the town center. Cruise ships dock at the modern multi-purpose terminal of the Port of Rønne (Sydhavn), from where the cozy city center is directly accessible in about 15 minutes on foot due to the short distance or comfortably via shuttle service.

Rønne on Bornholm is a charming destination that is easily accessible thanks to its central location and excellent ferry connections from Germany and Denmark. Cruise ships dock directly in the Port of Rønne, from where the historic old town and the tourist center can be reached in just a few minutes on foot or by shuttle.

Car & Ferry

For travelers from the DACH region, the ideal route is via the A20 motorway to the island of Rügen and on to the Port of Sassnitz-Mukran. The shipping company Bornholmlinjen offers a direct ferry connection to Rønne, which brings you to the island in about 3 hours and 20 minutes. At the Port of Sassnitz-Mukran and at the Port of Rønne on Bådehavnsvej, guarded long-term parking spaces are available for guests who wish to park their vehicles safely for the duration of the cruise.

Airplane

Bornholm Airport (RNN) is located only about five kilometers south of the cruise port and is served several times daily via the Copenhagen (CPH) hub. The flight time from Copenhagen is only 35 minutes, and thanks to the short distances on the island, you can reach your ship from the airport by taxi or bus in about ten minutes. For a relaxed arrival, we recommend a flight to Copenhagen and subsequent onward travel by plane or express bus directly to the port.

Train & Bus

An environmentally friendly arrival is possible by train to Sassnitz station or via Copenhagen. From the Danish capital, the Bornholm bus (Kombardo Expressen) runs directly to the ferry terminal in Ystad, Sweden, from where the high-speed ferry reaches the Port of Rønne in just 80 minutes. This combined connection is well-coordinated and enables a stress-free arrival directly at the terminal in the heart of the island's capital.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
