Airplane
Arrival from the DACH region typically involves a long-haul flight to Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). From there, Bangkok Airways offers domestic flights to Trat Airport (TDX) several times a day. Trat Airport is located about an hour's drive from Laem Sok Pier, the main departure point for ferries to Koh Kut.
Transfer & Ferry
From Trat Airport (TDX), you can easily reach Laem Sok Pier by minibus or private transfer. Organized van and catamaran packages are available and cost from around 1000 THB (approx. 26 EUR), including the bus transfer to the pier and the speedboat crossing to the island. The journey from the airport to the pier takes about one hour. Alternatively, you can take a direct bus or minibus from Bangkok to Laem Sok Pier, which takes 5 to 8 hours and is also often offered as a combination ticket with the ferry. The ferry crossing from Laem Sok to Koh Kut (e.g., Ao Salad Pier) takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on the type of boat. Guarded parking spaces are available at Laem Sok Pier for approx. 50-100 Baht per day.

Scooters can be rented easily directly in the port area, offering you full flexibility for your exploration tour. Thanks to the low volume of traffic and the well-paved main road, you can reach remote bays and viewpoints safely and at your own pace.
On Foot
The immediate surroundings of the Ao Salat Pier can be excellently explored on a leisurely walk. Within 5 to 10 minutes, you can reach the adjacent fishing village with its houses built on stilts, local markets, and the imposing Buddha statue that watches over the harbor.

Klong Chao Waterfall
Probably the island's most famous waterfall is nestled in lush jungle and offers visitors a wonderful refreshment in the midst of an untouched tropical setting thanks to its deep, natural pool. The site is easily accessible via a short walk and perfectly combines adventure in the rainforest with the tranquility of Thai nature.
Ao Yai Fishing Village
Located in the southeast, this village fascinates with its traditional construction on stilts and is ideal for guests who wish to dive deep into authentic island life thanks to the genuine atmosphere and excellent local seafood cuisine. The panoramic view over the bay and the colorful fishing boats make this place a cultural highlight, which also offers a wonderful contrast to the quiet beach sections.
Bang Bao Bay
The idyllic Bang Bao Bay in the southwest of the island is easily accessible by local taxi in about twenty minutes and offers a dreamlike, horseshoe-shaped bay with crystal-clear, calm water. Thanks to the fine white sand and the gently swaying palm trees, you can enjoy an excellent atmosphere for a relaxed beach day here, while the small local resorts also provide a good infrastructure with cool drinks and Thai specialties right by the sea. It is best to secure one of the sought-after shaded spots under the trees directly in the morning and plan your return journey to the pier at least ninety minutes before departure for a stress-free conclusion to your shore excursion.
The journey back to the tender pier on Koh Kut is straightforward thanks to local island taxis and can be easily integrated into your day trip.
Songthaews (Island Taxis)
The characteristic covered pick-up taxis can be found at central meeting points such as Klong Chao Beach or directly in front of the entrances to larger resorts. The drivers will take you directly to Ao Salad Pier or Nam Luek Pier and are familiar with the tender boat departure times.
Resort Shuttles and Transfers
Many accommodations and restaurants on the beaches offer their own shuttle service and are happy to organize a transfer back to the ship. Simply ask at the reception for a ride so that you can enjoy the drive through the tropical landscape relaxed and on time.
Orientation and Time Buffer
The paths to the main piers are well signposted and lead via the island's central main road directly to your destination. Since the distances between the inland waterfalls and the coast can be underestimated, a departure about 30 to 45 minutes before the last tender time ensures a stress-free return to the pier.
