Airplane
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) near Colombo serves as the international destination airport for travelers from the DACH region. From there, it is possible to take a domestic flight with Cinnamon Air to China Bay Airport (TRR) in Trincomalee, which shortens the travel time to about 45 minutes while offering spectacular views over the island. China Bay Airport (TRR), also known as Trincomalee Airport, is located only about 7 kilometers southwest of the city of Trincomalee and the port. Due to the long journey from Europe, an overnight stay in Colombo or the surrounding region before the onward flight to Trincomalee is recommended.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) in Colombo, which is approximately 234 to 240 kilometers from Trincomalee, the most comfortable way to continue to the cruise port is with a pre-booked private taxi or a chauffeur service. The journey on well-maintained roads takes about 4.5 to 5.5 hours depending on traffic and offers you a relaxed start to your cruise vacation thanks to direct transport to your hotel or terminal. Alternatively, some hotels also offer transfers.

Given the long flight times from the DACH region and the subsequent multi-hour transfer time, a relaxed pre-arrival with an overnight stay in a hotel in Colombo or near the port in Trincomalee is highly recommended. In Trincomalee itself, you will find various hotels that often have private parking facilities, such as hotels near the beach or in the city center. Trincomalee Port is centrally located, so you can easily reach the cruise terminal from Trincomalee railway station or other central points in the city with a short taxi or tuk-tuk transfer. For trips within Trincomalee, tuk-tuks are a flexible and cost-effective option.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

For a relaxed return to the ship, ideally plan your departure from the beach ninety minutes before casting off, so that you can end your day at the sea perfectly.

An organized transfer is often offered between the pier in the port area and central meeting points such as the bus station or the clock tower in Trincomalee. These buses run at regular intervals and guarantee you a punctual arrival directly at the ship's security checkpoint.
On Foot
From the city center and the busy Main Street, you can easily reach the guarded main gate of the port in about ten minutes. Since the port area is monitored for security, the friendly staff at the checkpoint will ensure an orderly process and show you the short way to the internal port transfer.
