Boracay is a radiant jewel of the Philippines and world-renowned for its snow-white, powder-sugar beaches and brilliant turquoise sea. The island delights with a carefree tropical flair and offers an incomparable vacation experience thanks to its lively beach promenades and first-class water sports opportunities. Among the most fascinating sights are the iconic White Beach, the striking volcanic rock formation Willy’s Rock, and the idyllic Puka Shell Beach. Since cruise ships lie at anchor off the coast, guests reach the island by tender boat at Cagban Jetty Port. From this central landing pier, visitors can comfortably reach the bustling center and the popular shopping area D'Mall within about ten to fifteen minutes using local e-tricycles.
Boracay, a breathtaking island in the Philippines, is not a classic cruise port where ships dock directly. Instead, cruise ships anchor offshore, and passengers are comfortably brought to the island by tender boats, usually to Cagban Jetty Port at the southern end of Boracay or, depending on the sea conditions, directly to the famous White Beach. Arrival for guests from the DACH region requires a well-planned combination of flight and local sea travel.
Airplane
The primary arrival option from the DACH region is via long-haul flights, typically with layovers in major hubs like Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB), to one of the two closest airports on Panay Island. Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH), better known as Caticlan Airport, is the closest and therefore most convenient airport to Boracay. It is located only about 2 kilometers from Caticlan Jetty Port and offers the fastest connection to the island. Kalibo International Airport (KLO) is another option, often served by budget airlines, but requires a longer land journey of about 1.5 to 2 hours to Caticlan Jetty Port.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Caticlan Airport (MPH), the journey continues to Caticlan Jetty Port via a short ride by tricycle, van, or shuttle bus, taking about 10 to 15 minutes. At the jetty port, environmental and terminal fees as well as the ferry fee are paid before you cross over to Cagban Port on Boracay Island by local ferry or pump boat in about 10 to 15 minutes. Many providers also offer "all-in-one" transfer packages that include all land and sea transfers as well as applicable fees to your hotel on Boracay, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. Once on Boracay, electric tricycles (E-Trikes) or vans will comfortably take you to your accommodation.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long international flights and multi-stage transfer routes, it is recommended to arrive at least one day before the scheduled embarkation. An overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel on Boracay or in the immediate vicinity of Caticlan allows for a relaxed start to your cruise adventure and acts as a buffer for any flight delays or transit holdups. Many hotels on Boracay are geared towards the needs of travelers and often offer their own transfer arrangements from the airport to the accommodation.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
