Omaezaki is a maritime jewel on the coast of Shizuoka Prefecture and, thanks to its exposed location on the Pacific, offers an authentic insight into the natural beauty of Japan. The atmosphere at the port is characterized by a refreshing sea breeze and a wide panorama that, on a clear day, even reveals the majestic Mount Fuji on the horizon. Cultural highlights in the immediate vicinity include the striking white Omaezaki Lighthouse, the extensive Marine Park Omaezaki, and the lively Nabura Market with its freshly caught seafood delicacies. Cruise ships dock at the Port of Omaezaki at the central Tsukumi Pier, from where guests can conveniently explore the city center, about five kilometers away, and the picturesque coastal region via provided shuttle buses or taxis.
Omaezaki, a picturesque port in Shizuoka Prefecture, welcomes cruise guests to a region full of natural beauty and rich tea culture. The port itself is a functional industrial and commercial port where cruise ships dock at the West Quay. Please note that leaving the port area on foot is not permitted; instead, shuttles and taxis are available for further travel.
Airplane
For guests from the DACH region, traveling to Japan by plane is the most comfortable way. The nearest airport is Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport (FSZ), approximately 18 to 32 kilometers from the port, with a travel time of 25 to 40 minutes by taxi. For international flights, however, Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) in Nagoya (approx. 123-130 km away, 2 to 2.5 hours transfer time) or Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo (approx. 180-189 km) serve as the main destination airports. Due to the long journey, an overnight stay near the airport or in one of the larger cities on the day before your embarkation is always recommended.
Train & Local Transfer
Omaezaki itself does not have a direct rail connection. The nearest major station is Kikugawa Station on the JR Tokaido Line, from where you can reach the port in about 30 to 40 minutes by taxi. From Kikugawa, there are convenient connections to the Shinkansen network, which quickly connects you to the metropolises of Tokyo and Osaka. For cruise guests, free shuttle services from the pier to important sights such as the Nabura Seafood Market and the Omaezaki Lighthouse are often offered on port days. Taxis are also available at the pier to take you to local destinations.
Car & Pre-Cruise Stay
Traveling by rental car allows you maximum flexibility to explore the Shizuoka region before or after your cruise. Omaezaki is well connected to the road network, for example via National Route 150, which connects the city with Hamamatsu and Shizuoka. Route 473 also provides a connection to the Tomei Expressway at the Aino Interchange. There are no dedicated long-term parking spaces for cruise guests directly at the port; it is therefore advisable to check parking options at your pre-cruise hotel or to return a rental car before embarkation. A pre-cruise stay in a nearby city is particularly recommended for international arrivals to start your cruise adventure in a relaxed manner.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
