Airplane

Amami Airport (ASJ) is the nearest airport and is located approximately 40 kilometers north of the Amami port, also known as Naze Port. There are no direct international flights from Europe; instead, travel takes place via major Japanese hubs such as Tokyo (Haneda or Narita) or Osaka (Kansai). From there, regular domestic flights to Amami Airport (ASJ) are available. The flight time from Tokyo is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Local Transfers

Several transfer options exist from Amami Airport (ASJ) to the Port of Naze (the main cruise port). A direct bus connection from the airport to Naze takes about 50 to 70 minutes and is a cost-effective option. Alternatively, taxis are available to take you to the terminal in about 45 to 60 minutes. Route 58 connects the airport directly with Naze, the center of the island.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long international journey and the necessary connecting flights within Japan, an overnight stay on Amami-Oshima before embarkation day is strongly recommended. In Naze, the island's largest city and in the immediate vicinity of the cruise port, you will find various hotels that allow for a convenient start to your cruise. This also provides the opportunity to gather your first impressions of the island.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
