From there, domestic flights operate to Rendani Airport (MKW) in Manokwari, West Papua, which serves as the most important starting point for expeditions into Cenderawasih Bay. Direct flight connections from Jakarta or Bali to Sorong (SOQ) are also available, with a flight time of approximately 3 to 4 hours. It is recommended to choose direct flights to optimize travel time.
Transfer & Shuttle
Upon arrival at Manokwari Airport (MKW), most expedition cruise lines and liveaboard providers organize a direct transfer from the airport to the ship's embarkation point or to the Aurora expedition yacht. These transfers are often already included in the travel price and ensure a comfortable transition from the flight to the ship. As Pulau Rouw itself offers no public infrastructure, local transfer services or shuttles are not available on the island; all logistics are handled by the cruise line.

Due to the long international flights and further domestic connections to West Papua, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Jakarta, Bali, or Manokwari is strongly recommended.
