Returning to the ship

Jayapura is a unique cruise port in the Indonesian province of Papua and is reached from the DACH region exclusively via Fly & Cruise. Due to the long journey and the required domestic flights, an overnight stay before embarkation is strongly recommended. The port area in Yos Sudarso Bay is primarily industrial, with cruise ships usually docking at a commercial pier or tendering.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Sentani International Airport (DJJ), located about 23 kilometers west of Jayapura and approximately 30 to 40 kilometers from the cruise port. Currently, Sentani only offers domestic flights. Travelers from the DACH region therefore reach Jayapura via an international flight to a major Indonesian hub such as Jakarta (CGK), followed by a roughly five-hour onward flight to Sentani.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Sentani Airport (DJJ) to the cruise port, a taxi takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, and the fare should be agreed upon in advance. Additionally, an airport bus operated by DAMRI is available for the route between Sentani and Jayapura, and there are options for private rental cars or minibuses. Many cruise lines also organize their own transfers for their guests, ensuring a comfortable onward journey.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight time and the time difference from Europe to Papua, as well as the necessary domestic flight, a pre-cruise overnight stay in Jayapura or near Sentani Airport is highly recommended. This allows for a relaxed arrival and acclimatization before the start of your cruise, so you can board well-rested. In Jayapura, various hotels are available, providing an ideal base for exploring the city and arriving at the ship on time.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
