Bali is the Island of the Gods and a fascinating jewel in the Indonesian archipelago. The region impresses with its spiritual atmosphere, lush green rice fields, and a deeply rooted culture that immediately enchants visitors. In the immediate vicinity of the port, the dreamlike beach of Nusa Dua, the lively water sports paradise of Tanjung Benoa, and the impressive Bajra Sandhi Monument in the island's capital, Denpasar, beckon. Cruise ships dock at the modern Benoa Cruise Terminal, which serves as an ideal starting point for discoveries. From here, travelers can reach the city center, about ten kilometers away, as well as the popular coastal towns quickly and easily thanks to the well-developed infrastructure, while enjoying the view of the glittering Benoa Bay upon arrival.
Benoa cruise port on Bali is the main gateway for ocean-going vessels to the "Island of the Gods" and offers a convenient arrival thanks to its modern infrastructure and proximity to the international airport. The terminal itself features a modern design and often welcomes guests with traditional Balinese performances. Due to the long flight time from the DACH region, arriving at least one day before embarkation is recommended.
Airplane
Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) near Denpasar is the closest airport to the port of Benoa. It is located only about 7 to 13 kilometers from the cruise terminal. International airlines offer direct flights or convenient connecting flights from major hubs in Europe.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), you can reach the port of Benoa in approximately 12 to 30 minutes of driving time during light traffic; during peak hours, the journey can take up to an hour. Taxis and private transfer services are available directly at the airport and the terminal. Additionally, ride-sharing apps such as Grab and Gojek allow for a flexible and comfortable onward journey. Using the Bali Mandara Toll Road is often the fastest option.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
An overnight stay in a hotel on Bali before your cruise offers a relaxed start to your vacation and helps with acclimatization after the long flight. In nearby regions such as Nusa Dua, Kuta, or Jimbaran, you will find a variety of hotels, some of which also offer transfers to the port. A hotel stay the day before simultaneously provides a sufficient buffer for unforeseen travel delays.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
