Returning to the ship

Benoa cruise port on Bali is the main gateway for ocean-going vessels to the "Island of the Gods" and offers a convenient arrival thanks to its modern infrastructure and proximity to the international airport. The terminal itself features a modern design and often welcomes guests with traditional Balinese performances. Due to the long flight time from the DACH region, arriving at least one day before embarkation is recommended.

Airplane

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) near Denpasar is the closest airport to the port of Benoa. It is located only about 7 to 13 kilometers from the cruise terminal. International airlines offer direct flights or convenient connecting flights from major hubs in Europe.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), you can reach the port of Benoa in approximately 12 to 30 minutes of driving time during light traffic; during peak hours, the journey can take up to an hour. Taxis and private transfer services are available directly at the airport and the terminal. Additionally, ride-sharing apps such as Grab and Gojek allow for a flexible and comfortable onward journey. Using the Bali Mandara Toll Road is often the fastest option.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

An overnight stay in a hotel on Bali before your cruise offers a relaxed start to your vacation and helps with acclimatization after the long flight. In nearby regions such as Nusa Dua, Kuta, or Jimbaran, you will find a variety of hotels, some of which also offer transfers to the port. A hotel stay the day before simultaneously provides a sufficient buffer for unforeseen travel delays.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.

Taxi & Ride-Hailing

Official taxis, such as the well-known Blue Bird vehicles, are waiting for you directly at the terminal exit. You can also use local ride-hailing services like Grab or Gojek to get to the nearby towns of Sanur or Kuta safely and at transparent prices.

Shuttle Services

Many cruise lines offer organized shuttle buses that take you directly from the ship to central points in Nusa Dua or Kuta. These connections are ideal for a relaxed stroll through town and can usually be organized directly on board or conveniently at the pier.

Bemos & Private Drivers

For an authentic experience, you can use the traditional Bemos, small minibuses that run on fixed routes across the island. At the same time, many licensed private drivers are available at the port to provide you with tailor-made day tours to temples and rice terraces in a personal atmosphere.

Highlights & Districts

To best explore the diversity of Bali during a short stay, focusing on the impressive temple complexes in the south and the cultural heartland of the island is recommended.

Nusa Dua & Tanjung Benoa

This exclusive area in the immediate vicinity of the Port of Benoa impresses with its extensive, light sandy beaches and first-class resorts. Furthermore, thanks to the peaceful atmosphere, visitors will find ideal conditions here for relaxed sunbathing and a wide range of water sports directly on the Indian Ocean.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Spectacularly situated on a steep cliff above the roaring surf, this significant sea temple is one of Bali's architectural icons and, thanks to its location on the southern peninsula, is perfect for an excursion with breathtaking panoramic views of the open sea.

Ubud

The green heart of the island fascinates with its artistic temple complexes and the world-famous, terraced rice fields. At the same time, this charming town, with its traditional markets and galleries, offers a deep insight into the spiritual and artistic life of the Balinese.

Useful tips

Geger Beach in Nusa Dua

Geger Beach in the exclusive region of Nusa Dua is easily accessible from Benoa Harbour via the modern Bali Mandara Toll Road in about twenty to thirty minutes and offers one of the island's most beautiful light sand beaches. This stretch of coast is perfectly suited for cruise guests, as it offers a first-class infrastructure with comfortable sun loungers, umbrellas, and excellent beach clubs for high-quality dining right by the sea. Thanks to the offshore coral reefs, the water here is particularly calm and clear, creating ideal conditions for a relaxed dip in the turquoise Indian Ocean. Ideally, start your excursion in the morning to enjoy the gentle sea breeze and the peace before the day tourists arrive, and plan your return trip to the harbour safely two hours before departure due to regional traffic.

Returning to the ship

The Benoa Cruise Terminal is well-connected in the south of the island and is easy to reach from popular excursion destinations thanks to the modern infrastructure.

Taxi and Ride Services

Taxis from the reliable Blue Bird Group are available at all major hotels and shopping centers such as Bali Collection or Beachwalk Mall and will take you directly to the pier. In addition, ride-hailing apps offer a convenient way to return, allowing you to cleverly bypass the heavy city traffic and arrive at the ship on time by using the Bali Mandara Toll Road.

Shuttle Buses

Many cruise lines organize regular shuttle connections from central meeting points in Nusa Dua or Kuta back to the terminal. These buses stop at clearly visible stations and ensure a stress-free return, as the drivers are familiar with the ship's departure times and will transport you directly to the check-in area.

Orientation in the Port

Access to the Benoa Cruise Terminal is well-signposted and monitored by security personnel at the gates. Since the port grounds are very extensive and located outside the pedestrian zones, it is best to use the available port shuttles or your taxi for the way to the ship to reach the terminal area relaxed and safe.
