Silghat is an idyllic river port in the Indian state of Assam and serves as a picturesque gateway to the country's fascinating Northeast. Airplane
Arrival from the DACH region typically takes place via Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) in Guwahati. Transfer & Shuttle
From Guwahati Airport (GAU), you can reach Silghat comfortably by transfer. The route of around 150 kilometers leads mostly via the well-developed National Highway 27 and takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Cruise lines often organize collective transfers, and private taxis and rental cars with drivers are also available. Given the long journey, an overnight stay in Guwahati on the day before embarkation is recommended to start your river adventure relaxed.
Train
Silghat has its own railway station, the Silghat Town Railway Station (SHTT), whose main entrance is oriented directly towards the river side of the Brahmaputra. There is a train connection from Guwahati, with a travel time of about 4 hours and 25 minutes for the approximately 172-kilometer route. This offers an authentic way to travel through the landscape of Assam.
