Airplane
The nearest international airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata. It is located approximately 90 kilometers south of Kalna. For a comfortable journey to the river port, we recommend a pre-arranged transfer through the cruise line or a private taxi service to take you directly to the ship. The travel time can range between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on traffic.
Train
The local railway station, Ambika Kalna (ABKA), is well-connected to the Indian rail network and is served by trains from Kolkata, particularly from Howrah or Sealdah stations. A train journey from Kolkata to Kalna takes about two hours and is a fast option for travel. From the station in Kalna, you can easily reach your river cruise ship's pier via local rickshaws or auto-rickshaws.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Transfer
Given the long journey from the DACH region to India, an overnight stay in Kolkata before the start of your river cruise is highly recommended. This allows you to acclimatize in a relaxed manner and serves as a time buffer for any potential flight delays.
