Port information & tips for Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a pulsating global metropolis and fascinates as a glittering gateway to Asia with one of the most spectacular skylines in the world. The city uniquely combines traditional Cantonese culture with modern architecture and, thanks to its location on Victoria Harbour, offers a breathtaking backdrop for explorers. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the Avenue of Stars, the historic Clock Tower, and the iconic Star Ferry. Cruise ships dock either at the central Ocean Terminal directly in Tsim Sha Tsui, from where the city center is within walking distance, or use the modern Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, which enables comfortable and quick access to the pulsating center thanks to efficient shuttle connections.
Hong Kong is considered one of the most impressive cruise ports in the world, serving international guests via the centrally located Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui as well as the extensive Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on the site of the former airport. Thanks to a highly efficient transport network and direct connections to the international airport, the metropolis is optimally prepared for a smooth arrival.
Airplane
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) receives regular direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich and is located approximately 35 to 40 kilometers from the cruise terminals. Thanks to the Airport Express, travelers can reach Kowloon Station in just 24 minutes or choose a taxi for the direct route to the ship, which guarantees a fast connection in about 45 to 60 minutes via Route 3 and Route 8.
Transfer & Shuttle
For transfers to the terminal, red city taxis are available at all times at the airport and train stations to take you comfortably directly to check-in. The Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is also excellently connected to the MTR subway network through special cruise line shuttle services and public buses such as lines 5R and 22, while the Ocean Terminal is integrated directly into the Harbour City shopping center and is thus reachable within a few minutes' walk from Tsim Sha Tsui Station.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Given the long flight duration from the DACH region and the time difference, an overnight stay in a hotel in Kowloon or Tsim Sha Tsui is recommended to start the cruise relaxed. Many hotels near the harbor specialize in cruise guests and, thanks to their central location, enable a comfortable journey to the ship as well as sightseeing of the famous skyline at Victoria Harbour before departure.
