Port information & tips for Victoria (Mahé)

Victoria, the charming capital of the Seychelles on the island of Mahé, welcomes travelers as one of the smallest and most relaxed metropolises in the world. The city impresses with its tropical flair, Creole architecture, and the stunning backdrop of green granite mountains that rise majestically behind the colorful houses. Cultural highlights include the lively Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke Market with its exotic aromas, the iconic Victoria Clocktower, and the magnificent Hindu Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple. Cruise ships dock at Mahé Quay in the Port of Victoria, from where the city center is quickly accessible in about 20 minutes on foot or conveniently via shuttle transfer thanks to short distances.

The port of Victoria on Mahé is the maritime heart of the Seychelles and, thanks to the short distances on the main island, is excellently developed for international guests. The ships dock at Mahe Quay, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the city center and the ferry terminal for island hopping.

Airplane

Guests from the DACH region reach the Seychelles via Seychelles International Airport (SEZ), located approximately 10 kilometers south of the port. Convenient direct connections are available from Frankfurt with Condor; additionally, airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, or Etihad Airways offer regular flights to Mahé via their respective hubs.

Transfer & Taxi

The drive from the airport to the cruise terminal via the coastal East Coast Road takes only 15 to 20 minutes. Licensed taxis are available directly in front of the arrivals hall; furthermore, many cruise lines organize comfortable shared transfers that take you and your luggage directly to the check-in at Mahe Quay.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the flight duration of over ten hours and the time difference, arriving at least one day before embarkation is recommended. First-class hotels in Victoria or at the nearby beach of Beau Vallon allow for a relaxed start to your vacation and are reachable from the port in only about 15 minutes by car.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
