Cruise ships dock directly in the Port of Lüderitz at the central multi-purpose quay, from where the historic town center and the charming harbor promenade are easily accessible within a few minutes' walk, allowing travelers to experience the colonial history and the rugged beauty of the Namib Desert immediately and intensively.

The port is located near the center, although larger cruise ships often tender and bring guests comfortably by boat to the main pier, from where the town is reachable on foot.
Airplane
Travel from the DACH region is primarily by plane via Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), which offers direct connections from Frankfurt, for example. From Windhoek, there is the possibility of a connecting flight to the smaller Lüderitz Airport (LUD) with FlyNamibia from the national Windhoek-Eros Airport (ERS). Lüderitz Airport (LUD) is located only about 9 to 13 kilometers east of the city center and the port. Please plan sufficient time for your journey due to long flight times and potential transit stays.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Lüderitz Airport (LUD), you can reach the port and your accommodation comfortably by taxi or pre-organized transfer in about 7 to 15 minutes. Many hotels can assist you with the organization. For the route between Windhoek and Lüderitz, which is approximately 700 to 850 kilometers and takes about 8 hours to drive, private shuttle services can also be used. The paved B4 national road connects Lüderitz with Aus and further with Keetmanshoop and is in good condition, although occasional sand drifts and thick fog can occur.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Arrival at the Port
Due to the long international journey and potential flight delays, an overnight stay in Windhoek or Lüderitz on the day before your embarkation is recommended for a relaxed start to your cruise. The port of Lüderitz does not have a large cruise terminal; smaller ships can dock directly at the commercial port, while larger ships anchor in the bay and bring their guests ashore with tender boats. At the main pier, you will find the Lüderitz Waterfront with shops, a currency exchange, and restaurants, all within easy walking distance, allowing you to immediately immerse yourself in the charming city life.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
