Airplane
Arrival at the cruise port of Diego Suarez for guests from the DACH region is usually by plane. The nearest airport is Antsiranana-Arrachart Airport (DIE). International travelers first fly to Ivato International Airport (TNR) in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, from where connecting flights to Antsiranana (DIE) with Madagascar Airlines/Tsaradia are offered in approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours flight time. It is recommended to plan a full day buffer for the connection in Antananarivo.
Transfer & Local Arrival
From Antsiranana Airport (DIE) to the port or to hotels in the city, the distance is only 3 to 5 kilometers, making transfers by taxi take only about 4 minutes. At the port area itself, which is an active working port, local transport such as tuk-tuks (bajaj) and taxis are available after the tender, taking you comfortably to the city center about 1.5 to 2 kilometers away. It is advisable to negotiate the fare before starting the journey.
