Returning to the ship
The Conakry cruise port, located in the bustling Kaloum district, is Guinea's most important maritime gateway and offers good accessibility for international guests, although advance planning is beneficial due to local conditions. The cruise terminal provides basic facilities for embarkation.
Airplane
Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport (CKY), also known as Gbessia International Airport, is the nearest airport and is located approximately 10 to 15 kilometers from the port. Direct flights from Central Europe to Conakry are available, allowing for a convenient journey. Given the long-haul flights, we recommend arriving at least one day before the scheduled embarkation.
Transfer & Shuttle
From the airport, you can reach the port comfortably by taxi, with the journey taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. It is advisable to arrange a private transfer in advance through your hotel or a reliable provider to ensure a smooth journey and fair pricing. Some cruise lines also offer their own shuttle services to the terminal; please check the details of your booking for this.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a relaxed start to your cruise, we recommend staying overnight in one of the hotels in Conakry, especially in the city center or near the port. Hotels such as the Noom Hotel or the Riviera Royal Hotel offer comfortable options to acclimatize after your flight and pleasantly bridge any waiting times before embarkation. A pre-cruise stay also allows for a stress-free journey to the terminal on the day of embarkation.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time – depending on the cruise line and destination area – is usually about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
