The tour operator and cruise provider Phoenix Reisen was founded in 1973 and is specialized in high-quality river and ocean cruises. The portfolio includes not only classic river trips, e.g. on the Danube, the Rhine and the Volga, but also exotic routes such as cruises in South America, the Orient or the South Seas. Due to the small ship sizes with capacities of 150 to 1200 passengers, there is a family atmosphere on board. During the cruise you can enjoy high-quality dishes, from the maritime fish buffet to grilled specialties to desserts and cakes. Phoenix Reisen also offers special arrangements for wedding couples, birthday children or other anniversaries and celebrations.

The stylish and functional outside staterooms are between 12 and 13 sqm in size. Depending on the location the staterooms have a small window (Douro deck) or large panoramic windows (Lisbon deck), which can also be opened in the upper area (Porto deck). The staterooms are equipped with shower/WC, a hairdryer, an adjustable air conditioning, a TV, a radio and a safe. 

As on all Phoenix ships, the atmosphere on board the Magellan is cosy and informal. The dress code on board is casual. At the traditional captain's dinner a more elegant wardrobe is expected, but evening wear is not needed here. Regional events, live music and light entertainment on board provide a perfect setting for your river cruise on the Douro.

In the restaurant, which is already included in the price, the regular kitchen crew of thr Magellan provides a tasty breakfast buffet as well as multi-course lunches and dinners, each served at a common table time. In addition to European dishes, you will also be served local specialties. There is also a spacious salon with a bar (not included) where you can enjoy your favorite drink.

During the cruise, regular dance nights with live music await you. A selection of books, board and card games is at your disposal. Regional events, such as folklore performances, language courses or lectures about the country and its people do not leave boredom on board. For further relaxation you will find a spacious sundeck from which you can enjoy the view over the river landscape. In addition, the Magellan offers a small pool.

Through a variety of shore excursions, you have the opportunity to get to know the country and its people along the route. The excursion program is adapted to the length of stay of the ship and is accompanied by qualified tour guides. The excursions are usually in German language. The shore excursions can be booked directly on board or partly in advance online at the shipping company. Payment is on board. At some cruises a variety of shore excursions is already included.
