Returning to the ship

The port of Frederiksted on St. Croix impresses with its location right by the historic town center, with the modern Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility serving as the central terminal for cruise ships. Due to its Caribbean location, travel from the DACH region typically involves flying with one or two layovers.

Airplane

The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) is located about 12 kilometers southeast of the port and is the primary destination airport for the island. Since there are no direct flights from Europe, travelers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland use convenient connections via US hubs such as Miami (MIA) or Charlotte (CLT), as well as regional connections via San Juan (SJU) on Puerto Rico.

Transfer & Taxi

From the airport, you can reach the terminal in Frederiksted in about 15 to 20 minutes via the Melvin H. Evans Highway (Highway 64). Reliable shared taxi transfers with fixed rates are available at the airport, and private shuttles or the transfer offers of the respective cruise lines can also be used for direct transportation to the ship.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight duration and the time difference, arriving at least one day before embarkation is highly recommended. Accommodations directly in Frederiksted allow for a stress-free morning on the day of departure, as the cruise terminal is within walking distance or just a few minutes by taxi from many hotels.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination area—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
