Returning to the ship

The Port of Male is the central hub for cruises in the Maldives and impresses with its immediate proximity to the international airport. Thanks to the excellent logistical connections between the airport island and the capital, guests reach their ship quickly and easily.

Airplane

Velana International Airport (MLE) serves as the primary gateway for travelers from the DACH region and is served by Frankfurt, Zurich, and Vienna directly or with comfortable connections via Dubai or Qatar. The airport terminal is located on the island of Hulhulé, from where you can reach the jetties in Male or your ship lying at anchor in just a few minutes.

Transfer & Shuttle

After landing, the transfer to the port takes place either traditionally by boat or via the modern Sinamalé Bridge, which connects the airport directly with the capital. Taxis take about 10 minutes for the journey across the bridge, while the regular speedboat ferries offer a charming first ride across the turquoise water and dock directly at the quays of Male.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight duration and the time difference, arriving the day before embarkation is highly recommended to start the trip relaxed. The nearby island of Hulhumalé also offers numerous hotels near the beach, which often provide free shuttles to the airport or directly to the ferry terminal in Male for the day of embarkation.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
